Alok is currently Professor of Medicine in the Department of Haematology at Christian Medical College in Vellore, India. He is also the Head of Center for Stem Cell Research. He serves as the Chair of the Asia Pacific Hemophilia Working Group, and as Vice-Chair of the Asia Pacific Blood and Marrow Transplantation Group. He is also the chair of the technical evaluation committee for Genome Engineering Technologies and their Applications as well as co-chair of the Scientific and Technical Appraisal and Advisory Group on Knowledge Generation and Discovery Research of the Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India. He is well-known in the hemophilia community internationally.

Alok serves as Associate Editor of Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, and Frontiers in Alloimmunity and Transplantation. He is on the Editorial Board of HAEMOPHILIA, Journal of Thrombosis and Hemostasis, and Blood Coagulation and Fibrinolysis.
Alok received his MBBS and MD degrees from the University of Madras; FRACP from Royal Australasian College of Physicians; FRCPA from the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and FRCP (Hon) from Royal College of Physicians, UK.
